This week has been a little on the crazy side. But what week isn't these days?!? We had an ultra sound on Tuesday to check on the growth of the twins. Which they both are doing well. Baby A estimated at about 2 lbs 6 oz with a heart rate of 132 and Baby B's estimated weight is at 2 lbs 10 oz with a heart rate of 133. Both are still sitting breech and moving all over the place.
At my 28 week doctor appointment today things are going well. Getting a little crazy early but well. I am feeling a little overwhelmed after talking with the doctors and being hooked up to a non-stress-test machine to watch the babies heart rates and see if I was contracting for three hours this morning. Things are progressing a faster than I was hoping for, but so far things are under control. I have been officially put on 'modified bed rest' as of today. Meaning I need to slow down. Although I thought that is what I was already doing. I guess I am really going to have to SLOW down. I also received a steroid shot to help the babies lungs develop faster in case they decide to come early. So that was two shots (including my normal weekly shot) and one more tomorrow. My behind is really starting to feel like a pin cushion!
I can honestly say that I was anticipating being told that I needed some sort of bed rest towards the end of August; I was not expecting it to be this early though. So now I am working on getting my plan of attack on how to slow down and making a list of things that need to get done before the babes arrive. Obviously, I will be taking it easy. My poor hubby, sisters and sister-in-law are probably going to look at me funny with the honey-do-list I am going to compile. Oh well. I will have my turn to repay for the wonderful help I am about to receive from everyone, I really am very blessed with a great family!!!! It's just a hard thing to remind yourself to ask for help for things that you were able to do just fine. But enough about all of this. Here are this weeks fun little facts.
How far along: 28 weeks 6 days - 78 days more! (well that is really over estimating it...but I am hoping it is somewhere near that many days away!!!)
Have you started to show yet: It is looking more and more like I have a beach ball shoved underneath my shirt. Which I very unusual for me. I am usually "pregnant" all over.
Total weight gain/loss: Am I am up 7lbs from my starting. I some how managed to lose that half pound in the last week or so. Not sure how that is possible. I am sure its just water weight.
Belly Button in or out? In
Rings on/off: They had to come off. My finger was hurting from the constant swelling and going back to normal. I hate not having my rings on though.
Maternity Clothes: Jeans, Top and flip flops from Old Navy. Don't look at my hair, I really need to get in and get a hair cut and something fun done to it soon!
Size of Babies: They are about the size of butter nut squash this week. Estimated at about 2.75 lbs and almost 15 inches long.
Weird Changes: These babies must be helping to put pressure in different spots. It doesn't take long for my toes to get that numb, tingling feeling anymore.
Sleep: Sleep is ok. Its the getting up to pee that is the kicker - we are up to between 3-6 times a night using the facilities.
Best moment this week: Lucas telling me I looked pretty the other day. It made my day!!!
Movement: They are all over the place. The babies kept kicking the book I was reading. Its really hard to read when the words keep jumping all over the place!
Stretch marks? eek...who really wants to talk about those!
Symptoms: Still very tired and worn out easily.
Labor Signs: Braxton Hick contractions have started already. Not gonna lie, but they kinda scare me.
Food cravings: I am just trying to eat anything that will go down at the moment. Nothing ever seems to really sound good these days.
Food aversions: Fish and most pork
Pregnancy best friend: My new St. Gerard Chaplet Rosary and prayers!!!! I love saying my rosary to begin with, I find it very comforting and soothing. Recently when I found out about this one I was really excited. I am open to anything that will help my sanity and aid in helping keep these babies in...and what better way than the power of prayer!!! St. Gerard is the patron saint of childbirth, children, expectant mothers, motherhood, mothers, pregnant women, pro-life movement, and unborn children. There are many prayers you can say to him asking him to also help pray for you. Currently I am doing the Special Intention prayer -- asking for help to keep these babies from coming too early. I received my chaplet the other day from a little etsy shop - Rachel Rode - Jewelry for the Heart and Soul. She has some absolutely beautiful items in her store!
Here are some links to sites where you can find more information on prayers and a little history behind St. Gerard.
Gender prediction: The doctors know, but we are still guessing. ;)
What I miss: Being comfortable while sitting on the couch, in bed and anywhere for that matter.
What I am looking forward to: Getting some names picked out that my hubby hasn't vetoed already.
Weekly Wisdom: Learn the art of 'asking for help.'
Milestones: We are getting closer to D-Day!!! (Although right now its still a scared, excitement)
Thanks so much for reading and listening to my nervous rant. :) All will be well! Have a great day!
