AddyLou Creates - FW1930s-wk3 13belle & 24coralWeek 3 has come and gone.  We are now into week 4, I haven't even started this week's Farmer's Wife 1930's Quilt Sampler blocks.  Life has been crazy.  Meetings for the house -which is coming along beautifully.  School events, and sick kids (yuck!).  Canning the last of the summer & fall's bounty. All this have prevented me from getting much sewing done.  That is on the plan for the next few days here.

Last week's blocks and I had some arguments.  There may have been some wine drank post production to ease the frustration.

First being 'Belle.' I have never done a y-seam...none the less had any idea what it was.  Again, seeing the horror stories being posted scared me.  I will say started thinking I could do it on my own.  I got to a certain point and then got stuck.  So I followed the tutorial that Ms Midge had posted, and voila! I had an almost perfect Betty block the first time around even though there was a few picking out of seams to get it right.

Block 6 : #13 Belle

Made from fabric I have used on aprons for my sisters.  I love the print on this one.  Did a little fussy cutting on the bigger flower sections to get them to match like that.

Not the prettiest of backs, but it was done. haha.

The second block for the week was 'Coral'.  Apparently her and I were not meant to be friends.  I have no idea what was going on.  The first time I made it - she was beautiful - perfect points, all came together great.  Until I measured, and then I realized I was 1/4" off.  I think this may have been because the seams came out to about 3/8" instead of the scant 1/4".  GRR.  The second time wasn't any better.  Still trying to figure it out, but somehow it was stretching everywhere and wouldn't become square.  So third time was a semi-sorta charm.  It was done.  Came out to the 6 1/2" unfinished block it was supposed to be.  Although, I am pretty sure my tips are going to disappear when the quilt is sewn together, but oh well.  I was tired of trying.

Block 7 : #24 Coral

Used some Amy Butler I had laying around.  And the green was from the bumper pads my mom made for my babies.  I love the color combination on this one. Just wished I didn't have to make it so many times.
